What is the CARB Clean Truck Check HD/IM Program?
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) created the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD/IM) Program to help reduce air pollution and enhance air quality. This program requires regular emissions testing for diesel-powered trucks to detect and fix high-emitting vehicles.
If you operate diesel trucks in California with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 14,000 lbs or more (including fleet operators, independent truck owner, out-of-state vehicles operating within California.), you are required to adhere to the CARB Clean Truck Check HD/IM Program.
